Allen L. Rode

U.S. Veteran

Allen L. Rode, age 75 of Tipton passed away on Friday, July 20, 2012 at his home. He was born on May 30, 1937 in Tipton to Erich and Jean (Keeler) Rode. He was a 1955 graduate of Tipton High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1958 to 1960. On March 6, 1965 Allen married Marilyn “Kay” Beeman and they recently celebrated 47 years of marriage. He retired from Chrysler in 2000 with over 37 years of service to the company. More recently Allen worked for Tebbe Farms until 2011.

Allen was a member of the Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge, United Auto Workers and was one of the founders of the Girls Softball League in Tipton. In his spare time he enjoyed flying radio controlled model planes, fishing, and tinkering in the garage.

Survivors include his wife Marilyn Rode of Tipton, two daughters; Erin and husband Todd Adams of Fort Wayne, Sara Etchison of Warsaw, and his grandchildren; Brooke Deady, Courtney Etchison, Kendra Etchison, Hilary Adams, Zachary Adams, Blaine Adams, and Stephanie Adams. Other survivors include his siblings; Jeanine Miller of New Mexico, Evelyn Howery of Arizona, Eileen Eberhart of Auburn, IN, and Dennis Rode of Hobbs.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents, a son Brian Rode and siblings; Gerald Rode and Barbara Cox..

Visitation is scheduled from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Porter Funeral Home at 726 East North St. Tipton, IN on Tuesday, July 24, 2012.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday July 25 at Porter’s with Pastor Bill Cornwell officiating. Interment will follow in Elwood City Cemetery. Instead of floral contributions the family request donations to the American Cancer Society or Howard Regional Hospice.
